In the blocks center, I had students draw small snowmen on index cards. Students cut the white circles, added various size paper shapes, and drew with markers to create their snowman.
To practice cutting circles, students cut and collaged snowmen. It makes him wonder what snowmen do at night when we are all sleeping. The snowmen are all unique and beautiful in their own way just the students that made them. It is a book about a little boy who notices that his snowman is a little disheveled each morning. At the end of our circle time each day, the teachers read a book to the children. there are some really cute snowmen snacks I loved the one made with banana and pretzel sticks and this one made with cucumbers and raisins. From watching our youngest preschoolers in our reading corners fully immersed in a book and making up their own words to watching our second and third year students (JK and SK age) reading those same books to their younger classmates, books and stories bring us together.
